i didn't do much halloween crafting this year but i did make these sheets for my bed. they're just a plain white queen sheet set from walmart that i embellished with halloween fabric and ribbon. i just did the 2 pillowcases and the flat sheet. sorry about the quality of the pix.

eat your food!
there's hungry relatives in india!
my mom left for a 6 month trip to india this past saturday and like all returning relatives who come back from abroad she had to take back some pretty cool gifts. some people still take laptops, cellphones, digital cameras, but they have all that. all my family wanted was american food. so next to her clothes and medicines my mom had a serious stash of these 4 food items.
my aunts adore the single serve crystal lights, and their cooks love the mashed potatoes b/c they can make a delicious indian bread way easier this way, the kids and teens go seriously nuts for brownies, and the matriarch of my family - my 84 yr old aunt - will have nothing less than jello no bake cheesecake :)

strange medicine
check out Coke Wisdom O'Neal's new art print 1 and 2 over at 20x200. he photographs people's medicine cabinets and says, "...if you told me a little about your beliefs, age and politics, I could make a pretty good guess as to what you have in your cabinet."
i know it's really obvious but don't you think this would still look cool hanging in a modern bathroom?

numbered baskets
spotted them in my latest CB catalog - but didn't find them online - so i'm thinking they'd make a great diy project. just get some cute baskets and decoupage numbers or letters on - or if you're a gemini with commitment issues like me - affix said labels with this instead.

4 tuesdays from now
will be election night - pretty scary stuff if you ask me. but you still have time to order these table topics for your election night party. they're advertised as being "designed to jump start fun, non-partisan conversations..."
sure, why not? sometimes a dinner party needs a brawl - just to mix it up a little.

yard sale re-do
while yard sale-ing last weekend i picked up this mini album for .25 - and since i'm currently not into sponge bob - i recovered it with some scrapbook paper and i think it looks kinda chic.

goodwill hunting
after lunch i also stopped by my local goodwill and spent forever looking at these 70's dining chairs for just $12 each. again thinking about glossy white paint and cool fabric - something like these or this or this. but they were wobbly and i'm not sure how to fix a wobble.
they also had this cool set for $300 - not really my style - a little too severe - but i thought for the right person - probably a good buy. and of course these were as sturdy as could be b/c i did not want them.

can u believe
i just had lunch at an indian buffet and just had this one plate - no seconds!
i am trying to watch what i eat and i had been talking to myself about todays lunch since last night -- trying to psych myself up to stay on my "new way of eating" plan. i'm actually pretty proud of myself. small victories as they say.
clockwise - lemon rice, palak paneer with corn (spinach with farmers cheese, and corn), malai paneer (cream tomato sauce with farmers cheese), and my fave! - butter chicken (chicken in cream tomato sauce).
actually now that i think about it - that's alot of cream - but still, i would have normally had another plate....

$7 stash
i love the neighborhood fall festivals and tag sales! this is what i found over the weekend:
2 for $1 white wintry looking candleholders
$2 brass(?) tray which i'm probably going to spray paint
6 terra cotta pots for $3
and my find of the day were these $1 cafe curtains. its about 5 yds. of fabric with a pretty 6" border that i think would make a really cute embellishment for some pillowcases or a beautiful detail on the sleeve of a white cotton kurta.
